1️⃣ Activate the yeast
Mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar.
Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Make the dough
Add egg, melted butter, remaining sugar, salt, and flour.
Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth.
3️⃣ First rise
Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
4️⃣ Roll & fill
Roll dough into a rectangle (about 12×16 inches).
Spread butter, then sprinkle sugar and lemon zest mixture.
5️⃣ Roll and cut
Roll tightly like a log.
Cut into 10–12 rolls.
6️⃣ Second rise
Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
7️⃣ Bake
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden.
8️⃣ Glaze
Whisk powdered sugar and lemon juice.
Drizzle over warm rolls.
