🥩 Carne Asada (Marinated Beef)
Ingredients:
- 500–700g beef (flank, skirt, or thin steak slices)
- Juice of 1–2 limes
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt & black pepper
Steps:
- Mix all marinade ingredients and coat the beef.
- Let it sit at least 30 minutes (longer = more flavor).
- Cook in a hot pan or grill until nicely browned.
- Rest briefly, then slice thin.
🌯 Burrito Filling
You’ll need:
- Large tortillas
- Cooked rice
- Beans (black or kidney)
- Shredded cheese
- Optional: onions, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream
Assemble:
- Lay out tortilla.
- Add rice, beans, carne asada, cheese, and extras.
- Roll into a tight burrito.
🍅 Smothered Sauce (Quick Version)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup tomato sauce or blended tomatoes
- 1/2 cup broth or water
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp flour (to thicken)
- Salt to taste
Steps:
- Heat oil, stir in flour, cook briefly.
- Add tomato sauce + broth + spices.
- Simmer until slightly thick.
🔥 Finish (Smothered Style)
- Place burritos in a baking dish or pan.
- Pour sauce all over.
- Sprinkle extra cheese on top.
- Bake (180°C) for 10–15 minutes or cover and heat on stovetop until cheese melts.
🍽️ Serve with:
- Sour cream
- Fresh cilantro
- A squeeze of lime
💡 Tips:
- Want it spicy? Add jalapeños or chili flakes 🌶️
- Short on time? Use leftover cooked beef instead of marinating
